This year, however, the race goes beyond sporting performance. The organisers and the participants stand together for an important social cause. On 14-15 August 2025, 116 cyclists will compete, covering 226 kilometres each over the two days – a total of 26 216 kilometres, which can be purchased at HUF 1 000 per kilometre to support the Leukaemia Foundation for Children, which will help to build two sterile wards with HEPA filters at the Department of Paediatric Haematology at the University of Debrecen.
The cost of the sterile wards is 87 million HUF, which will mean greater safety, better chances of recovery and less risk of infection for children with particularly serious conditions, mainly acute myeloid leukaemia.
The cure rate for leukaemia that is detected early and treated with modern treatment is now more than 80%.
Buy a kilometres – and give the gift of a chance of life!
