Poland’s Hubert Grygowski, winner of the 2022 One Belt One Road Nations’ Cup, was involved in the junior individual time trial and the road race in Australia. He finished the chrono in 29th place, just over three minutes behind world champion Joshua Tarling of Great Britain, and crossed the line in 33rd place in the road race event, nearly twelve minutes behind the winner. Frank Aron Ragilo, who finished the 2021 World Cup in tenth place overall, was the best – finishing seventh in the time trial and eighth in the road race.
The winners of both the 2020 and 2021 events, Denmark’s Tobias Lund Andresen and Norway’s Per Strand Hagenes, were both in the U23 road race event. Both riders positioned themselves well and Andresen tried a serious attack, but in the end they had no chance of a medal, Andresen finishing 27th and Hagenes, the 2021 World Junior Champion, 13th. Among the youngsters we know, the best result was achieved by Estonian Madis Mihkels, who won both the Vásárosnamény and Ibrány halves stages in 2021 and finished fourth. Yevgeniy Fedorov of Kazakhstan became the world champion in the age group.
