Slovakia is not to be missed!
In the context of the close cooperation between the cycling federations of the Visegrad Cooperation countries, the Slovak national team was one of the first to enter this year’s Nations’ Cup round in Hungary. Even though they failed to challenge the Danish-German-Italian hegemony in 2020 and did not achieve a great result in 2021, they still managed to do well.
Their number one man will be Slovakian championship road race winner Tomas Sivok, but there is also the excellent time trialist Samuel Novak, who could show his qualities as early as the prologue.
Preminary entry list for the Slovaks: Tomas Sivok, Martin Jurik, Gabriel Sobota, Christian Haas, Samuel Novak and Mattias Schwarzbacher.
The Slovenians will be here!
The Slovenian national team, led by Matic Macek, finished the first Nations’ Cup in Hungary in 2020 with a combined eighth place, the Slovenians who have dominated cycling in recent years, with two-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogacar and Primoz Roglic, who won the Vuelta a España and the individual time trial at the Olympics.
And the Slovenian junior riders are trying to benefit from these results. The team that will arrive in Hungary in 2021 has not achieved any outstanding results, but this year’s squad, captained by Natan Gregorcic, looks much stronger. Alongside the Slovenian time trial champion, Zak Erzen will also be worth keeping an eye on, and not just because his father Milan Erzen is the manager of the Bahrain Victorious WorldTeam.
Preminary entry list for the Slovenians: Natan Gregorcic, Grega Podlesnik, Zak Erzen, Anze Ravbar, Jan Lesnik and Aljaz Zefran.
The Turkish national team will be our guests for the first time!
Of course, we will welcome a new nation to the race for the 2022 season. The state is investing a lot in catching up in Turkish cycling, and nothing proves this better than the many UCI category races they organise.
Two outstanding talents are in the news in Bosphorus, both of whom will be here in Nyíregyháza, namely Ramazan Yilmaz and Mustafa Ayyorkun.
Ramazan Yilmaz, Mustafa Ayyorkun, Mustafa Melih Yildiz, Deniz Baskaya, Berkant Tasci and Mustafa Tarakci.
For the 2022 season, Hungary will host the ninth leg of the ten-round series from 17 to 20 August. The race will start with a 3.8-kilometre prologue in Nyíregyháza, followed by a 111.6-kilometre road stage the next day between the county center and Ibrány. On the final day, the caravan will cycle 117.4 kilometres between Vásárosnamény and Nyíregyháza.
