From 12 to 16 October, the velodrome of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in France will host the 2022 UCI Track World Championships. On the second day of the event, Canada’s Dylan Bibic competed in the men’s 15km Scratch race, who finished seventh in the 2021 One Belt One Road Nations’ Cup Hungary Youth World Cup.
The rider, who was still in the colours of the Belgian Cannibal during the Hungarian event, spent the 2022 season with the Canadian continental team Premier Tech U23 Cycling Project, but did not make much progress on the road.
In the Track World Championships, however, he pulled off one of the biggest upsets of the event, storming ahead in the final corner to win the world title, beating Japan’s Kazushige Kuboki and Roy Efting of the Netherlands.
“I was confident in my sprint because I have prepared a lot for this world championship, having spent many hours behind the bike,” the young rider told the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) website.
