The best junior riders had 111 kilometres between Lecelles and Roubaix, with seventeen sectors, including the five-star Mons-en-Pévéle and the Carrefour de l’Arbre. Adria Mobil’s youth rider, Jakob Omrzel, who this time was part of the Slovenian national team, was the most up to the challenge and finished first, ahead of his compatriot Erazem Valjavec, while Axel van den Broek (ACROG-Tormans) from Belgium came third.
Among the more familiar names, Poland’s Kacper Mientki, who finished third in the 2023 Nations’ Cup Hungary overall, crossed the line in nineteenth place, just over three minutes behind the leader.
The Nations’ Cup series continues on 18-21 April with the Eroica Juniores – Nations’ Cup in Italy.
There will of course be another home Nations’ Cup World Cup for young cyclists in 2024, which, as originally planned, will be the eleventh stop of the twelve-round series on 14-15 August.
