The junior boys had 127.7 kilometres to ride in the World Cycling Championships in Glasgow, completing nine laps. The Danes and the Norwegians essentially broke up the peloton in the first laps, and before the penultimate pass, Denmark’s Albert Philipsen went ahead and could not be caught, confidently claiming the world title. Germany’s Paul Fietzke and Norway’s Felix Orn-Kristoff took the other two places on the podium. As for the Hungarians, Zsombor Takács finished 45th (+12:21) and Bálint Feldhoffer 53rd (+12:29). Only seventy finished the event.
Interestingly, the new world champion is a rider from the Tscherning Cycling Academy, who will also compete in the Nations’ Cup Hungary on 16-17 August, but bronze medallist Felix Orn-Kristoff is also on the Danish provisional start list, and in total there were twenty-two cyclists at the World Championships who will most likely be welcomed in Vásárosnamény.
The 2023 Home Nations’ Cup Youth World Cup will be the ninth stage of the ten-round series, and will welcome cyclists on 16-17 August.
