This is the fourth time that the international junior series has visited Hungary, which in 2020 hosted a world cup in the history of the sport after almost 100 years. The Nations’ Cup will be contested by national, regional and club teams. The event in Hungary will consist of two road races and an individual time trial on 16-17 August.
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) changed some of the rules at the end of last year and the organisers have taken advantage of this by adding a 136,5-kilometre stage around Vásárosnamény. Starting from Vásárosnamény, the caravan will cycle three laps of the Gergelyiugornya, Tákos, Csaroda, Beregsurány, Tarpa, Tivadar, Gulács, Jánd, Gergelyiugornya circuits, before finishing back in Vásárosnamény.
The next day, two half stages will take place: in the morning, the peloton will cover 86.3 kilometres around Ibrány, specifically the Ibrány, Nagyhalász, Kótaj, Paszab, Ibrány circuit twice, while the small circuit of Ibrány will also be completed twice.
The 3.5-kilometre individual time trial will finish on the same day, starting from the starting line in front of the Roman Catholic Church of the Assumption of the Magyars in Nyíregyháza (Kossuth Square) and finishing at Szabadság Square.
