The attacks were continuous after the start, but a viable escape could not form on the 89.9-kilometer stage, during which the peloton completed two laps around the settlement of Bereg, spiced with a sprint SPM. Mostly the Belgian and German national teams tried to control, but on one occasion Bálint Orosz, who strengthened the colors of the Hungarian national team, was able to break with a minimal difference.
Approaching his sprint SPM, two minor crash made it difficult for the cyclists to advance, but that could not stop the Estonian team from leading up, so the sprint was won by Madis Mihkels, who came to the ground soon before.
The teams were already ready for tthe bunch sprint at the end of the second round, unfortunately the young people were quite nervous, so another crash ruffled their moods. Once again, only the Estonians dominated the sprint for the stage victory, with Madis Mihkels winning the stage ahead of Stian Edvardsen-Fredheim of Norway and Romet Pajur of Estonia.
„The team worked very well today, unfortunately in the first circle I got involved in a crash too, despite all this I didn’t give up the opportunity to be in the fight for the sprint SPM and during the run. I’m glad I managed to win at the end of a perfect lead, which gives me a lot of strength in the future, ”Mihkels said after reaching the finish line.
The winner of the prologue, Per Strand Hagenes from Norway owns the yellow jersey, Mihkels in the green, Niels Michotte from Luxembourg owns a yellow, and Szijártó Zétény is the first in the Hungarian competition.
