The Nations’ Cup Hungary continued with a half stage of just 86.3 kilometres around Ibrány on the morning of 15 August. During the stage, the cyclists completed two major laps of Nagyhalász, Kótaj, Búj and Paszab, followed by two smaller ones in the Ibrány area. At the end of the first big lap, the organisers designated the only intermediate sprint, which was important in the battle for the green jersey.
The choreography was similar to that of the first stage, with no really viable breakaway despite the many attempts to escape, the most promising of the attempts having a lead of just over thirty seconds.
The individual sprint was won by Poland’s Kacper Mientki, who was ultimately unchallenged in the bunch sprint to win the stage. Norway’s Filip Smoras was second behind him, while Spain’s Héctor Álvarez, in the yellow jersey, finished third. The best Hungarian was András Pakot (Hungary), who finished in 20th place. In the overall classification, Álvarez held on to his lead by just one second.
In the afternoon, the race ended with an individual time trial of just over three and a half kilometres in the centre of Nyíregyháza, which decided the outcome of the overall classification, as the first stage in Vásárosnamény and the second in Ibrány also ended with a bunch sprint.
Based on the experience of the past years, it was obvious that a result within four minutes was needed to win. In the end, Ireland’s Seth Dunwoody won the crown with 3:58 ahead of defending champion Felix Orn-Kristoff of Norway and Spain’s Héctor Álvarez, while Zsombor Takács (MBH Bank Cycling Team) took an excellent fourth place.
The yellow jersey stayed with Álvarez, with Dunwoody and Mientki on the podium – Zsombor Takács finished fourth, earning the distinctive jersey for the best Hungarian cyclist. Austrian Heimo Fugger won the points race, Norwegian Filip Smoras won the young riders’ classification and Ireland won the team competition.
