The best junior riders had 111 kilometres between Lecelles and Roubaix, with eighteen sectours, including stages at the five-star Mons-en-Pévéle and the Carrefour de l’Arbre. Luxembourg’s Niels Michotte, now a member of AG2R Citroën’s U19 junior squad, was the most up for the challenge and finished first.
The winner of the distinctive jersey for the best young rider at the 2021 One Belt One Road Hungary, Michotte won by almost half a minute ahead of Estonian Romet Pajur – with Frenchman Léandre Lozouet third.
Other names in the top ten that we know “well” were Denmark’s Kristian Egholm (4th), Estonia’s Lauri Tamm (6th), Denmark’s Frederik Lykke (8th) and Belgium’s Vlad van Mechelen (9th).
The Junior Nations’ Cup series continues with the Course de la Paix Juniors in the Czech Republic from 5 to 8 May.
Of course, there will also be a home Nations Cup Youth World Cup in 2022, which, as originally planned, will host cyclists as the ninth stage of the ten-round series from 17 to 19 August.
