The 2024 Nations’ Cup-series continued with an Italian, a French and a Swiss stage race. After the Czech Peace Race, the Italian G.P. F.W.R BARON-Trofeo Comune di Pieve del Grappa followed, with Spain’s Adriá Pericas triumphing in a huge battle to win by just two seconds over Italy’s Andrea Bessega.
This was followed by the French Trophée Centre Morbihan, also a two-day event but with three stages, where the home team came out on top with Axel Boquet winning ahead of Eliott Boulet and Paul Seixas.
Seixas then fired it up, and the rider, considered one of the greatest promises of French cycling, who is now racing with the Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale U19 team, won the four-day Tour du Pays de Vaud in Switzerland.
Here Pericas finished second and Slovenian Jakob Omrzel, previously triumphant in the Paris-Roubaix junior race, finished third.
The Hungarian national team was not involved in these competitions.
The Spanish currently lead the Union CyclisteInternationale (UCI) national rankings, with the Netherlands second and France third.
The Nations’ Cup series continues with the German LVM Saarland Trofeo from 30 May to 2 June.
Of course, there will also be a home Nations’ Cup race in 2024, which, as originally planned, will welcome cyclists as the eleventh stop of the twelve-round series on 14-15 August.
