The race, which ran from 9 to 12 June and included three full and two half-stages, saw nineteen national, one regional and four club teams take part.
Britain’s Jed Smithson celebrated at the end of the first 98-kilometre stage, before Czech Milan Kadlec was fastest the following day, while another Briton, Matthew Brennan, was the overall leader. In the next morning first half of the third day, it was the British again, as Joshua Tarling completed the 14 km individual time trial in the fastest time, taking the yellow jersey, while in the afternoon road stage, Luxembourg’s Mathieu Kockelmann came home alone to win the overall. On the final stage, the peloton allowed a three-man breakaway home, with Poland’s Hubert Grygowski finishing first, but it was perfect for the Luxembourgers as Kockelmann’s jersey was not threatened. At the final count, Frenchman Thibaut Gruel was second, while Norwegian Jörgen Nordhagen was third.
The International Cycling Union (UCI) national rankings are currently topped by Belgium, France is second and Norway third.
The World Cup series continues with the Tour de l’Abitibi in Canada from 12 to 17 July.
Of course, there will also be a home Nations’ Cup in 2022, which, as originally planned, will be the ninth stage of the ten-round series from 17 to 19 August.
